Seeelektahh....As We Move On......

....Run Datttt.....

....My development started off with legendary sound system from Manchester named "Chalice Man High Powa" as a "Box boy" Now for those who are not familiar with the term "Box Boy" lets break it down....a "Box boy" is a crucial cog in the chain that wears many hats. I would help construct speaker boxes, Load and unload vehicles, help "string up" (To set equipment up and arrange speaker locations) in venue and then help "string down" after the event has finished and this was my welcome to the soundclash culture moment hit me as no matter because it did not matter how much notarierty and attention we gained during the clash we had to come together as a team, there was no time to celebrate as we had to string down the equipment and load the vehicles and right then i decided that this was what i wanted to do going forward....

My Seeeelecktah As We Entahhh...

"The Young Mixer Don"

..After making a name for myself as the "young mixer don" it was not long untill some of the biggest sounds in Manchester came knocking at my door requiring my services specially when sound clashing. New Dimention were the 1st sound i performed for with no other than the Legendary Barry G (RIP) and Bigga who were absolute top OGs in the game and this was a moment i would hold on to forever, the 1st dance we played was at another legendary venue Carmoor Rd social club (Longsight Manchester) now bearing in mind i was a young whipper snapper at the times and i remember we were playing with Baron Turbo Charge shelling down the place and out of nowhere barry G decides to remind me that ggan (that was my dj name at the time) its past my bedtime and me must go a mi bed, this was comedy gold and made for a pleasent moment....then there was Hussla Ghetto Hart who benefited from having the "young mixer don" as a secret weapon as we travelled around the Uk shelling down dances but specially Carmoor Rd And Kittymans (Oldham). Next there was Yout Man Sound who was a big inspiration as they embraced me on many occasion when they played at rec park in moss side and at Manchester carnival so RIP Hendy.....After gaining experience on the dancehall curcuit the natural progression was to build a sound of our own and service all the new fans we had accumalated. After brainstorming names "wildfire" Sound was born, official members were...Myself, Md, Genius, Flex, Duckman, Ackun, Mayisi, Sonic, Brownin and Maria, Now we had the name we all came to the conclusion that if we want to compete in the big legues we would need to stand out from the other sounds and cut some dubplate specials and thats exactly what we did, Md did not waste a minute and jumped on the next plane smoking. Md came back with a bag a dubplates voiced by different artists but wouldnt say which artists he used, so we all met up and played the dubplates for the very 1st time, and my gosh what i heard nearly made me faint because 1st off the artists actually said Wildfire in the introduction of the dubplate and 2 they said mine and the rest of the crews names too... oh shit that was it for me, not only did they say my name Capleton, Beres Hammond, Sanchez, Marcia Griffiths, Barrington Levy, Elephant Man, Baby Wayne, Determine and Ghost all said our name in seperate dubplates jeeezee we were all gob smacked, gassed, and in disbelief, we all looked at Md and started smiling as we knew having big dubs like these are the difference between winners and losers and realising that part boosted our confidence and now we are ready for any sound who wanted smoke. We made a name for ourselves very quickly gaining the respect from our peers and from the city of manchester as we were constantly mashing up dances around the Uk, but what came next would change the Youth sound landscape for ever in the form of a invitation to be part one of the biggest events to happen in Manchester....

The Champions Of Champions Cup...

The champions of champions youth cup clash to be held at the legendary Rustle Club (Hulme Manchester). When the flyer dropped the whole city was absolutely buzzing with excitement as this was a new event concept and we couldnt wait to clash as we are war ready and fully clipped up with the dubplates we just cut from Jamaica, but what made things that little bit more interesting our rivals Maveric Sound were also on the bill so this definately be a dog fight but when the clash started the vibes were electric with no biased energy, we got into our stride warming the dance up with some 7 inch bangers which instantly won the crowd over but and now it time to drop the dubplates drawing for the Beres Hammond dub, once we played the Beres Hammond dub the crowd went nuts, as if saxon or stone love were playing, now trying to get the crownd back on your side after a beres hammond dub would be hard for most established experienced sounds to accomplish and maveric definately didnt do it and after that round the crowd could sence the clash was done and quickly judged the clash in Wildfires favour...WOW the cup was ours we had won the clash what a momoent for us all as we had worked hard for this moment, we were all gassed and now Wildfire Sound will go down as the best youth sound of our generation...as we move on in the same vein we bring to you....the mighty FMC Crew with members Yankee dolla, Philly B, DJ Que and Myself, now this journey was a little bit different because not only were we 4 top Djs representing Manchester playing music yankee Dolla had the presence of mind to open a record shop on Princess Rd Moss side which was absolutely huge to me as it showed the young people from Moss side and the surrounding areas that owning a business is achievable if you focus. The shop was not just any old record shop it was a hub for creativity and networking which was amazing for Djs and for Moss side as a whole, but the best thing for the crew was we would get all the fresh promo tracks 1st which offered us a veriety of set options. The bookings started flooding in from some of the biggest promotions in the game and the likes of sidewinder, Hysteria, Suga And Spice, Freedom, Brown Suga, Utopia, Velvet, Tasty to name just a few all wanted a piece of the energy....FMC Crew definately impacted the Uk specially Manchester in a postive way as Yankee Dolla showed turning music into a succesfull business is definately possible. As we bring this chapter to a close REMEMBER FMC Crew were the sickkest crew to ever do it.......after the FMC era had passed i was offered a dj residency at club Eq for kiss chase which would require me to go to london every weekend to perform with some superstar artists that i was listening to on the radio, watching on tv and raving to in the clubs, when i found out who i would be working with i was totally gassed and honoured to part of such esteemed bunch of artists like Mc Charlie Brown, Mc Melody, Dt, Ckp, Pied Piper WOW this was a achievement in itself as it was unheard of for a Dj from Manchester to land a club residency in London so that was definately a proud moment for me.

Nominated For DJ Of The Year..

Shortly after i would be nominated for sidewinders peoples choice dj of the year award which was amazing, mind blowing, surprising, heart warming and exciting as all the work performing up and down the Uk has been recognised which was a awesome feeling, i am just gratefull and thankfull for being nominated....after recieving the nomination residencies came thick and fast from promoters all over the Uk, working with Sidewinder(Milton Keynes) Future (Leicester) Strickly sexy (Manchester) with DJ CB, Rick O Chet, DJ Dre, 4 play and position 69 (Manchester) with Mc JD, Profile Crew and Lyrical compact, Utopia (Manchester) with DJ G1, Nev Wright, Chris Bailey, Tonn Piper, Freedom (Manchester) with MJ Cole, Mike Ruff Cut Lloyd, Pied Piper, DT, Unknown Mc, Metz and Trix, Velvet (Manchester) with MDNA Brothers, R House (Manchester) with Damien House Lee and DJ Rick o Chet was a absolute pleasure ...After a succesfull 4 years on the dj curcuit working with some of the biggest promoters in the game music production was the next step and a smoother transition as i knew what works in the clubs and what people want to hear so i went out and bought a computer and and in the midst connected with carl michael through Anthony Downer. Carl played some music he had produced and what i heard was very soulful, bar groove type music which was sick and a refreshing change from the bass heavy stuff i was listening to and playing in the clubs. I expressed my keeness to Carl regarding music production and he was kind enough to teach me some production basics on cubase. That was it for me as the things i seen and heard Carl you do with sounds absolutely blew my mind, i couldnt wait to start using cubase and experimenting with different soundscapes and plugins as making music of my own will add a different dimention, dynamic and energy to my dj sets which gives you a identity....my mind just opened up as this form of expression was what i was i needed to take my dj sets that 1 step further as i knew what worked on the dancefloor so if i could produce music with the elements that make people move i was on to something huge, so i started listening to different types of music to get some inspiration and came accross DJ Q, when i heard his production and i saw what they did in the clubs that was the type of music genre i wanted to produce so i instantly started searching for bassline music producers and came accross Jamie Duggan, Chris Bailey, Witty Boy Dexplicit, Mr V,all these would inspire me to push the needle creativly when making music as creating a DJ and music production identity is very inportant. During the peak of niche era was a inspirational learning curve as i was learnin how to produce music and rapidly realsing the tricks of the trade which i applied to my tracks instantly. While djing i would sprinkle some of my tracks into my set just get a crowd response temperature check and they went down very well and even got a few rewinds for good measure i was gassed beyond belief to have the whole club feeling something i had created was top feeling as even if 1 person showed some form of emotion i would have been very happy but the responses were awesome and confirmed music production was me through and through...
